Live from The Home Depot Center it's X-Games 14!!!

August 4 2008: Mtn. View, CA.

It's been over 24 hours now since the wild and crazy battles that made a VERY Memorable X-Games 14... Huge congratulations go out to SuperMotoOnline.com racer/writer, Graves Motorsports/Yamaha/ Brandon Currie who persevered through a less than textbook day to grab the Bronze, but without a doubt, the biggest high-five has to go to Robbie Horton who in really just his second year of Supermoto grabbed the Silver Medal, and the good chunk o' change that goes with it!  The SUPER STYLISH.....(as always) Horton, looked fast and was in the right place at the right time to take advantage of the open door first turn melee and rode a race of a lifetime while giving the brand new XXX Racing Fuels/Litz Racing/Honda squad their biggest success in their short history!!  Of course, on the top step of the podium was "The Man" Jeff Ward, to no-ones surprise as he's won more races than most racers have entered.

There were just a cornucopia of great rides, tough crashes and unexpected developments throughout the weekend. Nicky Hayden who was the subject of much hype and news......(rightfully so) crashed first thing in Saturday morning practice and injured an ankle.....(and probably saw his MotoGP season flash in front of his eyes) and pulled out of the rest of the days racing action. Rip-It Aprilia's team boss and racer, Daryl Atkins re-injured his wrist that had been broken at the end of last year and had to pull out......Supercross rider Heath Voss had a tough go and didn't transfer to the Main......the Heat races saw a ton of insanity, including Bronze medalist Currie tangling on the start straight with David Pingree....both of them going down.....then they went 1,2 in the LCQ....(Ping 1st and Currie 2cnd) to be the only transfers.

A good time and a well run event once again by the fine folks at ESPN. For a show that has soo many events going on at once, the delays were minimal and the program pretty much ran on schedule. Friday night included a cool "private" party at the Hollywood party spot, The Roxy, complete with a paparazzi laden sidewalk snapping photos of the celebrity athletes while waiting for "A" lister, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richey to show up.  Plenty to keep everyone entertained and the Supermoto show, as always was well worth the price of admission, especially since it was one of the few "racing" events.

Ok.........I could write on and on about what happened but click on Post Race Interviews in the next paragraph below for the skinny on what Currie, Horton and Wardy had to say after the race and also check out what Dalton Dimick, Jason Conlon, Micky Dymond, Kurt Nicoll and Mark Burkhart had to say before the race!! The Photo Galleries are up also!

August 2 2008: Carson, CA.

6:15pm PST.......A wildass race with a ton of crazy crashes, not the least of which has Mark Burkhart crashing hard in the first turn with David Pingree!!!  Ward takes it from flag to flag as an array of wild crashes take place behind him. The biggest surprise on the podium would be Robbie Horton getting the Silver after a great ride to hold off Brandon Currie!! I hope you all had a chance to see it on the TV but if not I'll have a complete write-up and finishes here in a little! WOW!!!  What a wild wild day!
