Chisum Leaves Stateline With a Win and the Lead!

Primm, Nevada: April 11, 2011

JC10 racing’s Josh Chisum took home a well-earned victory from three days at Round 1 of the Supermoto USA Pro Series Championship this past weekend.

Chisum who hails from Bakersfield California loaded up his Honda CRF450R and headed east to Buffalo Bills Casino in Primm Nevada to race at the largest Supermoto event of the year, Stateline Challenge. Josh who is well known as the Pac-man of Supermoto USA prize money was only interested in The Tony Hart Memorial Pro Unlimited Class win, and the $1000.00 check that went with it.

The weekend started a little rough for Josh on Friday as he tucked the front end in open practice and went down hard. He rebounded with some bike adjustments to lead his entire qualifier until a persistent Jacob Lehman who shadowed him the whole moto snuck around on the last lap to grab the checkers.

For the start of the feature race Josh would line up to the right of Lehman and second qualifier winner Ryan Kearns. Traditionally the Main event pole position remains vacant but marked by a number plate in honor of late Supermoto racer Tony Hart whose father was on hand to cheer on the racing faithful.

Starting from the far outside Chiz yanked a killer holeshot and immediately went head-down to hammer out the laps. Lehman wasn’t interested in second place and was able to match Josh’s pace for more than half the race trying to show the veteran a wheel at every opportunity. Jacob tried relentlessly to force Chisum into a mistake but was never able to stick a pass. By the ¾ mark, Josh had opened up a small gap and continued to ride mistake free taking the win and the prize money.

“Jacob rode a clean race and kept me honest” said Chisum after the race, “ He was fast and I had to push to stay ahead. I felt like as the race wore on I found my groove and I was able to lay down some better laps and bring it home. I think I was the only one tripling into the whoops and that helped a bit”.
