New Riders and New Rules for
2011:
Nearly 150
Supermoto pilots, including some of the Superquaders are due on
June 11 and 12 at La Roche-de-Glun near
Valence
(Drôme), where the Moto Club de Lyon and the Rhône hosts the
first race of the 2011 French Supermoto Championship season at
the International
karting circuit.
Important
innovation this year: the drivers of the old categories S1 and
S2 are grouped in one capacity class (350cc to 750cc) and the
pattern of race is revamped: the first 32 qualified set the
starting grid while the 32 riders following alignment
by category. The rest will meet in Promotion. No rule changes
planned for the Superquaders.
Top Challengers:
Prestige Class promises to be particularly lively with the
consolidation of the best riders. Many are able to claim victory
and will be challenging from the first race.
Sylvain Bidart (Honda
Luc'1) will defend his titles (2008, 2009 and 2010) and its
status as French number 1. No
doubt, "Professor" Stéphane BLOT and "Lupo" Boris Chambon (world
champion 2005), meeting this season under the same canopy and
new colors (Team Suzuki Blot), will talk about their experience
of the race.
If
these big names are expected in pole position, they should be
wary of drivers of the rising generation. Alexis
MARIE-LUCE (S3 Champion 2009), which runs this year in the
World, will bring his KTM 747 Motorsport Team at the opening of
the championship of
France. It
will regain its former rival Thomas Verscheure S3 (S3 champion
France 2008) on TM (Team MHRM) this season. We
should also mention Adrian GOGUET (S2 Champion 2008) the team
also MHRM TM, returning to competition after a year blighted by
injury in 2010. But
Damien CHANSEAUD, Waren BOUGARD Alexander PRECOP, so many
drivers that can spice up their sleeves to come ...
We
also note the presence of American Ryan
Kearns,
current leader of the 450 class in Supermoto USA Championship,
who will run on the 2 early
French tests.
One can
only regret the absence in early season two talented drivers:
GRELIER Aurélien (S1 Vice-Champion 2010) and William FLANDIN
(champion de France S2 2010), both still convalescing after
injury during the Indoor Tours
last March.
The show
will also go into S3 category, that of young talent supermoto,
the handlebars 250 4T. It
will include such GUERIN Frédéric (Luc'1 Honda Team), defending
champion, but current championship leader in American Supermoto
Lites classes. He will face opponents from last year: Jonathan
BRIGHT, Emmanuel GROUND, Maxime Lacour ...
