Fierce battles expected for titles in four MISuperMoto

MiniMoto supermoto racers to compete first time at Auto
City Speedway
CLIO, Mich. (August 24,
2011) –
This Sunday, August 28 supermoto racers will converge at Auto
City Speedway in Clio, Mich. for the final round of the 2011
Michigan Supermoto Championship brought to you by
MISuperMoto.com. Titles are up for grabs in the very competitive
Pro Class along with the Vet 35+, Amateur and Beginner classes.
Additionally, this event will also pay points to the Eastern
SuperMoto Racing Association (ESMRA) series which will include
two MiniMoto classes.
Due to a race cancellation this weekend by ESMRA,
MISuperMoto.com offered to invite ESMRA series riders to compete
in its race that is taking place on Sunday. The ESMRA race,
round six, at Oakland Valley Race Park in Cuddlebackville, New
York scheduled for Saturday, August 26 was cancelled this week.
ESMRA championship competitors are encouraged to head to the
Michigan Supermoto Championship final this Sunday to earn
valuable points.
“We’ll see great supermoto
racing this Sunday at Auto City,” said Dave Duprey. “We expected
to have competitors from across Michigan, Indiana and Ontario.
Now with the addition of the ESMRA racers, thanks to Tony Murray
and Sonja Lifsey, we’ll have even more exciting competition with
supermoto riders from the East Coast. Safety is always first at
our events and we pride ourselves on taking rider input during
practice. Come out Sunday to join us for the most unique form of
racing in motorsport!”
The four regular Michigan
Supermoto Championship classes will be run on Sunday. The Pro
Class will have two points-paying main events with an $800 total
purse. A total of $500 will be awarded to the athlete who wins
both main events. There is a fierce battle for the title between
Oxford, Michigan’s Jason
Hine on a KTM
250SX-F and Mentone, Indiana’s Chase
Guthrie on a
Kawasaki KX450F. Only nine points separate the two competitors. John
Lukasik, Jr. from

Guthrie. They will be joined by riders from the ESMRA series
along with some Canadian competitors who plan to race. ESMRA
racers who compete in the SMX classes will be placed in the Pro

YZ450F, is 19 points back in third place. All SMX Novice riders
from the ESMRA series will compete in the MISuperMoto Amateur
Class. The Beginner Class is a battle between Keith
Witherspoon on
a Yamaha YZ450F and John
Loveon
a KTM 450 who are only separated by three points with Dylan
Bailey on
a Yamaha YZ250F who is 12 points back in third. ESMRA beginner
riders will compete in this class.
Two additional classes will be
held this Sunday, August 28 by MISuperMoto and pay points to the
ESMRA series only. MiniMoto Premiere and MiniMoto Sportsman will
be run with competitors on mini bikes with supermoto slicks.
They will compete on both the asphalt and dirt, just like the
big bikes.
The classes will use the
MISuperMoto.com points system that includes 25 for first place,
21 for second, 18 for third, 16 for fourth, 15 for fifth and so
on. All class participants, whether Michigan Supermoto
Championship regulars or ESMRA series racers, will receive

Class finishes fifth, the rider will receive fifth-place points
from MISuperMoto.com and first-place points from ESMRA. Racers
may choose two classes to compete. ESMRA riders can move up one
class level to race two classes.

series podium finishers will receive awards thanks to
