WEST BRANCH, Mich. (June
14, 2011) –
Supermoto hits the streets of a northern Michigan town this
Friday where spectators will watch this unique form of
motorsport for free. More than 50 athletes on specialized
motocross bikes with slick road race-style tires will compete on
the streets of West Branch and on a temporary parking lot dirt
section. Internet channel ActionSportsTV.com is the presenting
sponsor for the Taco Bell Ogemaw Hills Supermoto Spectacular.
ActionSportsTV.com joins with
MISuperMoto.com, the event promoter, to announce a $1000 points
fund for the Pro Class. Pro racers from many disciplines
including motocross, flat track and of course supermoto will
compete, traveling from many parts of the United States.
The Taco
Bell Ogemaw Hills Supermoto Spectacular Pro Class will include Chase
Guthrie of
Mentone, Ind. who is a
former Michigan Supermoto Champion, former Wisconsin
Superbikers2 Champion and earned sixth place in his first-ever
appearance at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb last
month; KTM’s Jason
Hine of
Clarkston, Mich. is
currently leading the Michigan Supermoto Championship series
(the downtown West Branch race is a points-paying round); Scott
Powersports’ Johnny
Lewis of
Coatesville, Penn. who had his career-best GNC Twins finish with
a second place on July 9 at the AMA Pro Harley-Davidson
Insurance Flat Track Hagerstown Half-Mile and is a former
factory pro supermoto racer; Kensington Motorsports’ John
Lukasik, Jr. of
Howell, Mich. is leading the Michigan Supermoto Championship Vet
35+ Class and sits third in the Pro Class points; and HMC KTM’s Tyler
Stammer of
Wisconsin is a fierce competitor in the NorthWoodsGP series.
Additional riders from the United States and Canada will
complete in the Pro Class field.
The Taco Bell Ogemaw Hills
Supermoto Spectacular will start on the main street of downtown
West Branch, Michigan as part of the annual Ogemaw Hills Bike
Week. This Friday evening, spectators will line the sidewalks to
watch the riders take off and back-it-in to the first turn, down
a short elevation side street and then up into a parking lot
where there will be a temporary dirt section. Jumping through
the dirt section with various combinations of obstacles and then
they’ll jump out onto the street again, up a slight elevation,
backing-it-in to the left down the other side of main street
hitting a 50-foot dirt table top as they head down the street
and then a 180-degree turn to complete their lap.
The Pro
Class will be joined by the Beginner, Amateur and Vet 35+
classes. All classes are unlimited displacement. More than 50
riders have pre-registered to compete. Pre-registration for
racers is closed.
Gates will open for racers at 4
p.m. on Friday, July 15. Spectators can enter viewing areas at 5
p.m. when practice is scheduled to begin. Directions to the

There are no tickets. This is a free spectator event.
