Racin' Jason Conlon..... "On the Road" to X-Games 14 Mt. Airy, Maryland's Super Privateer takes on the factory teams while racin' for a livin'...
Bakersfield, CA. July 30 2008 I just wanted to let everyone know how my season has been going. The first AMA round was held in Seattle a couple weeks back. I raced in the Premier Class (450) on my CHM Exhaust/Pro Honda Oils backed CRF 450. The weekend was a blur but I put in some very credible results. The timed qualifying
started off well and I posted 4th fastest time. The AMA decided to
cut one of the dirt sections in between timed qualifying sessions.
My next timed session was not as good and I could only muster 8th
fastest. I started off the main
event in 7th and fought to stay with the main pack of riders. My
times were consistent, but I didn't feel overly fast or aggressive.
Around the half way point in the race I jumped a dirt single jump
and landed on the edge of a pavement transition immediately blowing
out my rear tire. I was riding on the rim for a couple laps and then
the rain came. The rain quickly turned the track into slop and the
race was red flagged. I've never been so happy to see a red flag in
my life. I finished in 8th position and I was happy to salvage that
result considering the circumstances Right now I'm staying out in Bakersfield California with my mechanic Dave. We have been testing and trying to improve my bike setup. I did a local Starrs Supermoto event over this past weekend at Grange. The track was a lot of fun and I put in a good amount of laps. I finished 2nd in the 450 class and won the Pro main event. This week will be a busy one trying to get everything prepared for X-Games 14 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. I feel more prepared than ever and I'm looking forward to the weekend.
A Big Huge Thanks to my sponsors: CHM Exhaust, Pro Honda Oils, AXO, Utopia Optics, Dunlop, Race Tech, Acerbis, East Coast Wheels, Powerbandzmx.com, and Mad Designs.
