with a $2,000 fund added for east coast supermoto swing
Independent teams and privateers who participate in the
AMA
XTRM Supermoto Championship rounds in Connecticut
and Wisconsin and the MISuperMoto X in Michigan are
eligible

DETROIT (June
26, 2008) – Three east coast supermoto promoters are
supporting the efforts of independent teams and
privateers by offering Doug Henry’s Hard Charger Award,
presented by Yamaha, for rounds two and three of the AMA
XTRM Supermoto Championship and the MISuperMoto X. A
$2,000 fund will be up for grabs in addition to each
event’s purse.
The
participating rounds are Doug Henry’s New England
Supermoto Grand Prix near Hartford, Connecticut on
Saturday, August 9, the MISuperMoto X near Flint,
Michigan on Saturday, August 16, and the USA
International Raceway Supermoto in Shawano, Wisconsin on
Sunday, August 24. All rounds will use the AMA points
system and all pro classes are eligible. In order to
participate, independent teams and privateers must
register at
www.misupermoto.com prior to August 9.
Three-time
AMA Motocross Champion and now supermoto promoter, Doug
Henry said, "As soon as I was asked to contribute to
this award, I was on board. It doesn't seem like that
long ago I was a privateer paying my way to get from one
race to the next. This is my first event as a promoter
and I am really excited about it!”
To get a shot
at Doug Henry’s Hard Charger Award, pro riders must race
all three rounds. Participation in any of the pro
classes at the three rounds will count towards the
award. Riders who run multiple classes at the same event
will have their best class finish points for the event
count towards the award. Rider points will be placed in
an overall listing and posted on MISuperMoto.com
following each round. The points fund will be paid
through fifth place with the awards presented following
the main events at the USA International Raceway on
August 24.
“At the
recommendation of Gavin Trippe, Doug Henry, Kal Gronvall
and I discussed what we could do to help riders
traveling to the east coast supermoto races,” said Dave
Duprey, promoter of the inaugural MISuperMoto X. “This
award fund enables us to support the riders and provide
a good show for our fans at each event. I am honored
that our race will be included with the national
rounds!”
USA
International Raceway Supermoto promoter Kal Gronvall
added, “We are excited to be involved in Doug Henry’s
Hard Charger Award. This will help all our events draw
the best pro supermoto racers to our tracks and to the
fans.”
Again to
participate, you must register for Doug Henry’s Hard
Charger Award, presented by Yamaha, at
www.misupermoto.com prior to Doug Henry’s New
England Supermoto Grand Prix, which will also register
you for the MISuperMoto X. You can register for the
Connecticut and Wisconsin rounds at
