Springfield, Ill. (May 22, 2008) – XBux/AMA Supermoto Lites Championship competitor Johnny Lewis of Team Evolve Moto will compete in this weekend’s Springfield TT as part of the AMA Flat Track Singles Championship. The five-time AMA Amateur Dirt Track Champion will combine his roots with the love of supermoto racing to take on the Springfield TT, a long-running event that joins high-speed grooved flat-track racing with jumps.

Lewis will compete in the pro class on a specially-prepared Kawasaki KX450F provided by Tom McGrane with support from Don’s Kawasaki outfitted with a Dubach Racing Development (DRD) exhaust.

“At the beginning of the year I thought about doing this race and wasn’t sure that it would work out,” said Lewis. “After talking it over and being offered a bike by Tom McGrane, we’re heading to Illinois this weekend to see what we can do. It makes perfect sense to race the Springfield TT to prepare for the supermoto series.”

Also Joining Lewis in a return to the dirt with no pavement, Mark Burkhart (Graves Motorsport Yamaha), 2008 Moto X World Champion, 2007 X-Games Supermoto Gold winner, and 2007 AMA Supermoto Champion will be in Springfield Illinois this Memorial Day Weekend racing in the AMA GNC Singles Championship on a Memphis Shades Yamaha. The racing action starts at 7:30 PM on Saturday night May 24, 2008 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

Burkhart will be running the number #11F for this weekend. His teammates will be Kevin Varnes and Marco Belli from Brazie, Italy. Belli is one of Europe's top dirt track racers. "The TT race is something I have wanted to do for a few years and just thought I would give it a try.

There is so much history associated with the event, plus it looks like fun. I want to thank Keith McCarty, Babe Demay and Allen Mueller of Memphis Shades (www.memphisshades.com) for putting this opportunity together for me," commented Burkhart.

Next on Johnny Lewis’ agenda will be two practice sessions in Michigan next week including the private pro practice hosted by MISuperMoto at Auto City Speedway in Clio, Mich. on May 28.
