Suzuki announced as title sponsor for Austin, Texas' 2008 Armadillo Supermoto! The "Crazy Wall", Red-Bull Gorilla Marketing, Parties and MORE at "Green" event!
Austin, Texas July 18 2008 Of the “Big Four” Japanese manufacturers, there’s one color that has been absent in the AMA Supermoto Championship series for the last couple years….. The Red bikes have been very visible at TroyLee Designs, the Blue ones have made a #1 plate their home at Graves Motorsports and the Green bikes were out in full force last year with the Litz team…….but…….the Yellow brand was nowhere to be seen for a little while. Well, THAT is all going to change in a big big way come October in Austin, Texas, as Suzuki comes to Supermoto in the United States full force!
“Suzuki is
extremely excited to bring the Yellow to Supermoto with a major
presence as the title sponsor of our race!” "What Suzuki is bringing
to the table for this event is second to no other race they In addition to Suzuki, Austin’s premier multi-line motorcycle dealer, Woods Fun Center has signed on as a presenting sponsor along with Red Bull and Budweiser. The front straight will be “The Woods Fun Center Straightaway” with banners and naming on the race video online and on SPEED TV. And speaking of the front straight, one of the locations that fans will definitely want to check out will be the launching ramp that will lead into the first dirt section!! Similar to the ramp leading out of the Moto-X track in San Diego this past April, the entrance to the first dirt area will be like the rest of the track and event, totally wild and unique.
Red Bull will be hosting a pre-race party at Doc’s Motor Works and a post-race bash at Aussie’s Bar and Grill in downtown Austin. Skip said “Red Bull will be canvassing the area with pre-race gorilla marketing galore, including a very cool truck mounted video projector that will be stopping and drawing a crowd as it projects a promo Supermoto video that will be produced specially for the event on building walls around downtown at nighttime prior to, and during the event” We're seeing who will be the sponsor of the “The CRAZY WALL” a big big, off the hook, half-pipe style, berm turn, that will be unlike anything you’ve ever seen on a Supermoto track! We're planning something like 20' high! "The Crazy Wall turn, just like the rest of this event, will be have to be seen to believed" says Skip. The company that will be involved in construction of the dirt sections is a very well known MX track builder that LOVES to design radical tracks and it will show at our event! “Also, Budweiser will be involving a number of local merchants with a collage of posters, banners and more to not only make this probably the biggest attended Supermoto event ever outside of the X-Games but one of the largest on site audiences for ANY motorcycle race in the USA this year!” And on the theme of colors that are present and NOT present in Supermoto right now, the color GREEN will be prominently utilized at the 2008 Armadillo Supermoto. Yes, “Groundbreaking, innovative, progressive…….the Austin Armadillo Supermoto event will be all of those” said Senor Jones. Though this race will provide new and innovative features to the “action” that will leave a major lasting impression on those attending, the event itself will leave virtually no impression on the environment as it will be without a doubt the “Greenest” motorsports race in the USA! Setting the bar high for other promoters and events to follow, the Austin round will feature offsetting environmental impact standards for everything from the vendors, who will be required to utilize earth friendly materials and processes, to planting of trees, to special “tipping stations” for hand sorting of all waste prior to disposal to eliminate any unnecessary landfill. Additionally, the dirt used for the dirt sections will be utilized as erosion control at local river sites. With all the major effort that Skip has put into this event it'll be a huge part of the process of taking the sport of Supermoto to a whole new audience!! All this incredible racing format needs is exposure and promotion, and Skip and this race will be doing more than his part to make it happen for everyone!
